Engineering for problems that do not have a catalogue answer.
CyberDynamic works across medical and biological science, electronics, communications and artificial intelligence — usually on all four at once, because the interesting problems rarely respect the boundaries between them.
Four disciplines, one engineering team
A sensor is not useful until its signal is trustworthy, its data can leave the device, and someone can act on what it says. We work along that whole chain rather than handing it between specialisms.
- Medical & biological
Medical and biological systems
Instrumentation, measurement and analysis for clinical and life-science work — from sensing hardware through to the software that makes a signal mean something.
- Electronic
Electronic systems
Mixed-signal and embedded engineering — circuit design, firmware and the measurement discipline that keeps a prototype honest on its way to a product.
- Communications
Communications
Getting data from where it is produced to where it is needed — radio, networking and protocol work for links that are constrained, contested or simply hard to reach.
- Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence
Machine learning applied where the data is scarce, the physics matters and the answer has to be defensible — including deciding when a model is the wrong tool.
We would rather be useful than agreeable
Research programmes go wrong in predictable ways: a question that was never sharp enough to answer, an evaluation that measured the wrong thing, a prototype that proved less than everyone believed. We work to make those failures visible early, while they are still cheap.
- Scope
- A question, not a deliverable list
- Evidence
- Negative results reported
- Advice
- Including "don't build this"
Recent notes
A number is not an evaluation
Reported accuracy on a convenient test split predicts almost nothing about how a model behaves on new subjects, new hardware and conditions nobody sampled.
The energy budget is the specification
On field-deployed instruments, power is not a constraint applied to a finished design. It is the constraint that determines which questions the device can answer at all.
Introducing cyberdynamic.org
Our new corporate site is live. Here is what is on it, what is deliberately not on it yet, and how it will change.
Have a problem that fits none of the boxes?
Those are the ones worth a conversation. Tell us what you are trying to find out and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people.
